January Institute Information

Dear Colleague:

The third Administrator Institute is scheduled for January 21-23, 2010 at the Hotel Captain Cook.

We will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 21 and conclude at noon on Saturday, January 23.

You must confirm your attendance at the Institute with Terry Dunn (terryscottdunn@gmail.com) by December 10, 2009.  “January Institute” should be on the subject line of the email.

Please bring the Institute Guides from the previous institutes if you have them.

Also bring a copy of your SBA school level and classroom level reports with all student identification removed.

Conference cost reimbursement

Airfare

The project will reimburse you for a ticket purchased at least three weeks before the institute. Please purchase your ticket as soon as possible in order to find the best price.  Please make your own arrangements and bring a copy of the e-ticket or airline receipt to the institute.

Mileage if not traveling via air

The project will reimburse you at the rate of 55 cents per mile.

Hotel room for non-Anchorage residents

Rooms will be on a Purchase Order for Wednesday, January 20, checking out Saturday, January 23 (three nights).

Terry Dunn needs to know if you need hotel reservations by December 10.

Meals for non-Anchorage residents

The project will reimburse for:

  •  Breakfast-January 21 and 22 ($12 each day) (provided 23rd)
  •  Dinner-January 21 and 22 ($32 each day)
  •  Lunch-January 23 ($16)  (provided January 21 and 22)

Ground transportation to the hotel

Please make your own arrangements. We will NOT reimburse for cab fare, rental cars, or parking.  Parking permits are $12 per day.

We will have you fill out reimbursement forms on Thursday, January 21.  Please remember to bring a copy of the airline e-ticket or receipt.

There will not be a staff development contract from EED this year; you must get travel approval from your district.

Forms must be handed in to Terry Dunn prior to the end of the conference.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will reimburse your expenses.  Completing the reimbursement forms at the conference will ensure that you will receive a check by the end of February.

If you intend to stay in Anchorage for the weekend, please call the Hotel Captain Cook  (800-843-1950) and make your own reservation for the extra time.  Any nights other than Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be at your own expense.

We look forward to seeing you at the third institute!

Best regards,

Gary Whiteley
